Our summer moisture source is typically reliant on tropical systems. We charged through Spring and early Summer with plenty of rain and everything was green. We hit August and hardly a drop of rain has fallen in portions of the area, including many Western Kentucky and Tennessee farms.
Tropical Storm Fay developed in the Atlantic on Saturday and crossed Cuba and the Florida Keys on Monday. Up to 10 inches of rain is expected in Florida and landfall on the mainland is expected on Tuesday.
While we rarely see any type of rain or moisture from tropical systems that make landfall on Florida, the weather pattern is stationed just right to allow a dissipating tropical system to head our way, bringing the Gulf moisture with it. High pressure will sit along the Eastern US blocking the northward movement of Fay. The tropical weather models are now trying to push the remnants of Fay in our direction. A blessing for those who really need the rain to support their livelihood!

We'll be watching Fay throughout the week!
